Caja Tree

Photo & oil pastels on paper
11" x 19"
Not for sale

Within the preserve at Rancho Mastatal, in Puriscal County, Costa Rica, there are some enormous specimens of a tree known locally as "Caja" or "Cage Tree.” The tree is similar to the Strangler Fig (Ficus) of the Australian rainforest.

This work was commissioned by the owners of Rancho Mastatal and now hangs in their guest lodge. To see more of my photographs from Rancho Mastatal, visit my photo gallery on the Rancho Mastatal web site.

This work is in a private collection in Mastatal, Costa Rica.

The Owner:

I have to take a picture of your oil pastel painting and send it to you one of these days. We made a beautiful frame for it, and it proudly hangs on our dining room wall. It has totally transformed our dining space. It is stunning. The oohs and ahhs are commonplace. Just amazing. Thank you.
